ROOFLINE: French To English

There is a famous French Architect who made his castle roofs in this style.  My client hired me to rebuild the roof so that he could have a covered deck and simplify the whole design.

The big challenge was to make it in a way that it would create an unobstructed view from the Living room window and still give the support required for the new roof over the porch.  Here’s what I came up with.

I created a 3 ply Micro-lam beam from the outer corner post to the inner side wall. The result was a streamlined roof and a full cover over the porch.
